Luis Guzmán might seem an unorthodox casting choice for a role that has been brought to the screen by the likes of John Astin and Raul Julia (with Oscar Isaac providing the voice for the most recent, animated version). But he's sure to make something good out of Gomez Addams. According to Collider, he's the latest addition to Tim Burton's planned series Wednesday, which will offer a new look at the Addams family.
Jenna Ortega is aboard to play Wednesday Addams, while Alfred Gough and Miles Millar remain attached to run the show, having come up with the concept to power it. Wednesday is described a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Burton will direct all eight episodes of the first season, which should be shooting soon and is likely to hit Netflix next year.
