Anyone else found themselves twiddling their thumbs on a Friday morning recently? For weeks, WandaVision and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier became regular appointment viewing at the end of the working week, bringing a little MCU magic to our lives one instalment at a time. Fear not, though – because Loki is nearly here, a show burdened with glorious purpose. Namely, the glorious purpose of giving us more of Tom Hiddleston’s iconic anti-hero in a Disney+ adventure that looks, frankly, nuts.
Following the Avengers-era version of Loki that escaped with the Tesseract in Endgame, the show pitches him in with the TVA – the Time Variance Authority, an organisation dedicated to protecting the sanctity of time itself. You can get a little bit more of a taste of what that actually means thanks to this new Loki clip, which finds the God Of Mischief acquainted with Owen Wilson’s Agent Mobius.
The Time-Keepers? Space-lizards? The sacred timeline? Consider us very much in for this one – we could be in for a show even wilder and weirder than WandaVision. And there’s plenty to be gleaned even in this short conversation between the pair. Mobius (not to be confused with Morbius, the living vampire) is surely a reference to the Möbius strip, a looping strand with only one surface, and the Time-Keepers are a bit of Marvel lore from the comics that you may (or may not) want to look into.
Either way, Loki should be a total treat, and it’ll be brightening our Wednesdays (Odins-days?) starting from 9 June. Let the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey fun begin.
