With the exciting mid-credits reveal on the Loki finale this past Wednesday that the show would return for a second season, thoughts naturally turned to the sterling work of the creative team, including head writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron. So we're sorry to learn that the latter won't be back.
Turns out it's not some bad blood issue, merely the plan all along. "I’m not returning," Herron told Deadline. "I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced."
And while you would think – and hope – that her proven abilities would lead to Marvel making her an offer for one of its movies, that's not on the cards right now either, as she's staying with the projects she has bubbling away. Still, she admits that she loves Marvel and would happily work with them again, so we can always hope. For now, though we'll just eagerly anticipate her next steps.
