If you caught last year’s LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, you’ll likely have had a blast with it – a short, irreverent, timeline-remixing treat filled with the LEGO brand’s usual sense of humour, shuffling up elements from the Original, Prequel and Sequel trilogies. And now, the gang is back with a Halloween Special titled LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, spinning spooky stories from the galaxy far, far away with lashings of silly gags on top. Is it serious, canonical Star Wars? No. But this looks like another daft delight from the LEGO Star Wars gang – with something for fans of every era. Among the story strands at play here, there’s Poe Dameron and BB-8 venturing to Vader’s castle on Mustafar – only to find it’s become an “all-inclusive luxury theme resort”. There’s fun stuff playing with resurrection (“the dead speak,” remember?) including undead droids and Darth Maul trying on a fresh set of legs. Plus we get a Monkey’s Paw – or, Wookiee’s Paw – story retelling of A New Hope, with Luke going to the Dark Side.
Even if it’s leaning into the Dark Side, LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales should be a bit of light entertainment to keep us all going until The Book Of Boba Fett arrives. And beyond that? Bring on the return of The Mandalorian in Season 3…
