Ted Lasso

Football-fish-out-of-water comedy Ted Lasso was definitely one of the small screen highlights of 2020, a feel-good treat that helped many people smile a little more during one of the long lockdowns enforced by the pandemic. Apple was also clearly delighted with the reaction, ordering two new seasons. The first teaser trailer for Season 2 is online, and as fun as you might expect.

Jason Sudeikis is back as the eponymous American Football coach hired to take on the ailing fortunes of AFC Richmond. While owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) ostensibly recruited him – with zero footie knowledge – in the hopes he'd run her ex-husband's club into the ground, Ted bonded with her and the players, and led to more success. That is, until the big game at the end of the season, which resulted in a loss for the team.

Still, we can expect spirits to be high, more pearls of wisdom from Ted and fresh offerings of biscuits even if he – and the biccies – might have trouble winning over the team's new sports psychologist, played by Sarah Niles.

Right now, Ted Lasso can't come back fast enough, but we'll have to wait until 23 July. We're readier than a rooster in a chicken coop.
