Run, rabbits! In November, we learned that Lizzy Caplan would be anchoring a new TV adaptation of Fatal Attraction, which followed a relationship soured and a family stalked. Joshua Jackson is joining the show, inheriting a version of the role played by Michael Douglas in the 1987 thriller.
This series will serve as a reimagining of the psychosexual concept from the original, in which Glenn Close's spurned lover went after Douglas' married man. Alexandra Cunningham will run the new show, working from a story she co-wrote with Kevin J. Hynes. It'll explore timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders and coercive control, with Jackson starring as Dan Gallagher.
The show represents the latest one of the attempts by streaming service Paramount+ to mine the studio's back catalogue of movies. "Joshua is an incredible talent who creates beautifully complicated characters on both the screen and stage," says Paramount+ Scripted Series president Nicole Clemens. "He and Lizzy are perfectly matched to tell a nuanced and modern narrative about the complexities of the human psyche. We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring this provocative and captivating story to a new generation."
