That Joseph Gordon-Levitt would join the latest project from Rian Johnson is hardly surprising, since the pair has collaborated several times in the past. And that Stephanie Hsu would also be cast is no shocker, since she's been putting great work in for a while. The two are the latest recruits for Johnson's mystery series Poker Face.

Not, as the title might suggests, a Lady Gaga-themed series though plot details are being kept so close to Johnson's chest it might take Benoit Blanc to ferret them out. All that Variety's sources have learned is that the show will follow a procedural format and see main star Natasha Lyonne’s character working to solve different murders in each episode.

This is TV series from the filmmaker, who is wearing several hats here - he's writing, directing and executive producing the new show, which has a 10-episode first season order from streaming service Peacock.

Johnson has often turned to mysteries for his movies – Brick was the movie that put him on the map and he's been finding success with the growing Knives Out franchise of murder mystery plots.

Gordon-Levitt has been doing a lot of TV of late, including his own show, Mr. Corman for Apple and playing Uber founder Travis Kalanick on Super Pumped. As for Hsu, she had a small role in Shang-Chi and more recently appeared in Everything Everywhere All At Once, which still doesn't have a firm UK release date, itself a true crime.
