Rennervations

It’s been a wild few years for Jeremy Renner. At the start of 2023, the Avengers actor was involved in a horrendous snowplow accident that he’s thankfully recovering from in the last few months – and a year before that, he was in his own Disney+ MCU spin-off series Hawkeye, teaming his sharpshooting Clint Barton up with Hailee Steinfeld’s loveable Kate Bishop. But he also, for a while, has been working on a different Disney+ series, punnily titled Rennervations. It is, as its title suggests, about Renner-based renovations, following the actor’s efforts to take disused vehicles and transform them into community-serving hubs – along with a bunch o famous mates. Watch the trailer here:

The series finds Renner turning real-life superhero, as he takes practical action to help people around the world with his (let’s be honestly, slightly unusual) scheme. It seems like these Rennervations include making a mobile recreation centre, a music provision, a water filtration station and more – helping people in the US, Mexico and India. And he has some famous faces helping out along the way, including Marvel co-star Anthony Mackie and Vanessa Hudgens. “I was just thinking,” muses one of his teammates, “we’re taking apart a bus with Hawkeye!” Yes. Yes you are.

The four-episode series is coming to Disney+ on 12 April – and it’ll be good to see Renner in his prime, putting some good out into the world. Hopefully, he’ll be back on his feet after plenty of well-earned rest and recovery.
