Back when The Expanse was cancelled by its US cable channel home, it was hard to imagine the story getting a proper ending. It's a relief to report, then that the series, picked up by Prime Video shortly after the hammer fell, is now headed to a sixth and planned final season to wrap up the story of humanity and heroism amongst solar system conflict. Check out the trailer...

The story picks up with the solar system at war, as Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander) and his Free Navy continue to launch devastating asteroid attacks on Earth and Mars. As the tensions of war and shared loss threaten to pull the crew of the Rocinante apart, Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) makes a bold move and sends former Martian Marine Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams) on a secret mission that could turn the tide of the conflict. Meanwhile, in the Belt, Drummer (Cara Gee) and what’s left of her family are on the run after betraying Marco. And on a distant planet beyond the Rings, a new power begins to rise.

Naturally, the ragtag crew of the Rocinante, including Steven Strait's James Holden, Dominique Tipper's Naomi and Wes Chatham's Amos are caught up in it all, part of the desperate plan to stop even more chaos.

The Expanse will return for this sixth and final run starting on 10 December via Prime Video and airing weekly for six episodes.
