Heartstopper has been quite the hit on Netflix, and while it doesn't rely on stunt casting, it has had some talented people on board, including Olivia Colman sharing the screen with stars Joe Locke and Kit Connor. Season 3 is adding more big names, with Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey joining the cast alongside Hayley Atwell and Eddie Marsan.
Created and written by Alice Oseman based on her graphic novels of the same name, follows the complicated love story between teens Charlie Spring (Locke) and Nick Nelson (Connor) who attend an all-boys grammar school.
Here's the official synopsis for Season 3: "Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan."
Atwell will play Diane, Nick’s aunt who takes him on a summer holiday to Minorca and has some tough advice to impart about his relationship with Charlie. Marsan will play Geoff, Charlie’s wise and straight-talking therapist who first appeared in the graphic novels. Bailey will make a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and celebrity crush of Charlie.
"I am incredibly excited to be welcoming three new cast members to the Heartstopper family,” Oseman said in a statement. “It was an absolute joy to see Hayley, Eddie and Jonathan’s talent alongside our existing cast, and I can’t wait for the Heartstopper fans to meet these new characters."
Heartstopper returns for Season 3 in October.
