Clearly believing that anything Disney can do, it can... also do, Paramount unleashed a torrent of news on Tuesday, filling investors in on upcoming movies, TV shows and corporate moves. Among them was word that the Halo TV adaptation has already been renewed for a second season.
The show stars Orange Is The New Black' Pablo Schreiber as a powerful, augmented soldier known as the Master Chief on the front line of a conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. But when he accidentally interacts with an artifact that the enemy has been searching for, his outlook starts to shift...
“Halo takes us into a dazzling world that we believe will enthrall audiences as much with its electrifying visuals as its bold, character-driven storytelling," says Showtime and Paramount Plus chief David Nevins in a statement. "This second-season pickup reflects the confidence we have in the power of this epic series to attract and engage viewers."
The show has had a checkered development – it burned through two show-runners on its way to the screen, and the new season will be run by David Wiener, who created the recent adaptation of Brave New World and was a co-executive producer on Fear The Walking Dead and Homecoming.
Halo lands on Paramount Plus in the States on 24 March, and with the service now due to launch in the UK this summer (more details on that here), it should be with us before too long. The latest trailer is below.
