Gina Carano has been somewhat of a lightning rod for controversy on social media in the last year – mocking mask protocols, trans rights and sharing right-wing posts. Now the consequences have caught up with her, and the actor is no longer working on The Mandalorian.
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. "Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Carano's posts had set off several campaigns to have her fired from the show and Disney in general, and any plans to have her continue – while nothing had been officially announced, spin-off Rangers Of The New Republic was looking likely as a home for the character – are now canceled.
Now we just hope they don't check too deeply into Grogu's history of frogspawn-based murder.
The Mandalorian should be returning later this year after The Book Of Boba Fett. It seems unlikely that Carano will appear in any of the Season 3 episodes, but we'll see if the show deals with her absence.
