Sporting a shock of curly hair and a mustache that looks like it's a cousin to Kenneth Branagh's Poirot face-fuzz, Ewan McGregor makes for a complicated character in new eight-episode Paramount+ series A Gentleman In Moscow. Check out the first trailer here:

Adapted from Amor Towles' bestseller, A Gentleman In Moscow sees McGregor playing Count Alexander Rostov, who until we meet him, has been enjoying a wealthy, lavish existence as a Russian aristocrat. Caught firmly in the crosshairs of the Russian Revolution, he finds himself on trial, trying to defend his past life and save his future. While he avoids execution, he's instead banished to a grotty attic room in the otherwise opulent Hotel Metropol, warned that if he so much as steps outside, he'll be killed.

Yet Rostov comes to discover that the hotel offers its own world of possibilities, including friendship with young Nina (Alexa Goodall), who holds the key to all the hidden opportunities the property has to offer, and potentially a more romantic connection with glamorous, self-made film actress Anna Urbanova (aka. Ahsoka star and McGregor's real-life other half, Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

With Johnny Harris and Fehinti Balogun also in the cast, the series launches on Paramount+ on 29 March.
