Long rumoured as in development, there has been a major update for Game Of Thrones spin-off series now known as A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The show has scored an official order from HBO.

Adapting George RR Martin's "Dunk and Egg" novellas, the new series is set a century before the events of the original series and promises to be more of a two-hander character piece than the sprawling likes of Thrones or first spin-off House Of The Dragon. Two unlikely heroes wander Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (the future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall), and his diminutive squire, Egg (the future king Aegon V Targaryen). Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Martin is aboard to serve as writer and executive producer working alongside Ira Parker, while Dragon's Ryan Condal is also involved, though not as one of the showrunners.

Between this and Dragon, the world of Westeros is expanding ever further…
