*Brrr brrrr*. *Brrr brrrr*. Do you hear that sound? It's a call. "Who's calling?" we hear you cry. The Night Agent is calling, folks — the Night Agent is calling. That's right, after being the man responsible for picking up the blower throughout the first season of Netflix's eponymous action thriller, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is set to be the one doing the dialling as the show prepares to return for a second season of thrills, threats, and high stakes Night Action shenanigans. "But when will it return?" we hear you also cry. Well, today Netflix confirmed a 23 January release date for the show's sophomore run of episodes, also dropping an action-packed teaser for what we can expect from the season ahead. Check it out below:

"It takes a certain kind of person to succeed as a Night Agent," says series newcomer Catherine (Amanda Warren) in the new teaser for Season 2. And having thwarted a terrorist conspiracy and saved the President of the United States in the first series, we reckon if anyone's that certain kind of person, then it's Peter Sutherland. He certainly looks the part in the twenty-odd seconds of action we get a glimpse of here, giving Jason Bourne, Ethan Hunt, and Jack Reacher a run for their money as we watch him kicking down doors, running from hailing bulletstorms, diving through windows, and generally giving big "I make the calls now" energy as our man Basso prepares to take his agent out of the frying pan and into the proverbial (and quite possibly literal) fire.

Fear not though, Basso — who we most recently got to see in action in Clint Eastwood's Juror #2 — won't be going alone in The Night Agent Season 2. Returning alongside him will be Luciane Buchanan as Peter's love interest and former Silicon Valley CEO Rose Larkin, whilst joining the incoming cohort opposite Warren's Night Action veteran Catherine are newcomers including Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, and Teddy Sears. We can also expect guest appearances over the course of the series from Marwan Kenzari, Elise Kibler, and Dikran Tulaine.

With things looking set to get even more intense for Sutherland second time around, a third season already greenlit and getting ready to shoot in Istanbul later this year, and shows like The Day Of The Jackal and Slow Horses sparking something of an espionage-based boom of late, you can bet we'll be ready to answer the call when The Night Agent comes back around on 23 January.
