With shows including the incisive parenting comedy Catastrophe, Aisling Bea-starring This Way Up and seminal single-girl series Pulling already under her belt, it’s safe to say that any announcement of a new Sharon Horgan show is one we’re excited to hear – and Bad Sisters her latest for Apple TV+, sounds like a belter.
The 10-episode series, described as a “delicious blend of both dark comedy and thriller”, stars Horgan alongside Anne-Marie Duff (Sex Education), Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn), Sarah Greene (Normal People) and Eve Hewson (Behind Her Eyes) as the Garvey sisters, five siblings brought together by the early death of their parents, and seen here in the wine glass-laden, Last Supper-esque first-look image from the show. That’s all we know about it so far – that, and the impressive supporting cast list, including Claes Bang (soon to be seen in Robert Eggers’ The Northman), Brian Gleeson, Daryl McCormack (star of festival favourite Good Luck To You, Leo Grande), Call My Agent’s Assad Bouab and newcomer Saise Quinn.
Horgan is also on producing duties, with her company Merman Productions creating the show. This will be the first project with Apple TV+ as part of her first-look deal with the streaming platform, which is where Bad Sisters will be released later this year.
