Emmy Winners 2024: Shōgun, The Bear And Baby Reindeer Dominate Awards — Full List

Emmys 2024

And just like that, another hotly contested Emmy awards season race has come to a close. After last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes pushed the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony into January of this year, last night the glitzy statue-doling bash's 76th edition — this year hosted by Schitt's Creek's Eugene and Dan Levy — took place at the Peacock Theater in LA. And on a night of few major surprises, the two most nominated shows of the year — samurai epic Shōgun and kitchen-based "comedy" The Bear — got their hands ("Hands!") on 18 and 11 awards respectively, including historic Outstanding Actor and Actress In A Drama wins for the former's Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, and second Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actor wins for the latter's Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

During the three-hour telethon, Shōgun — which now boasts the most awarded single season of TV in Emmy history — also bagged other top awards including Outstanding Drama Series and Directing For A Drama Series, whilst arguably the night's one major turn up for the books came in the form of Hacks' win for Outstanding Comedy. The HBO comedy about an ageing comedienne's working relationship with an up-and-coming young writer stormed a category that The Bear (which yes, we know, probably shouldn't be classed as a comedy) had previously been the comfortable favourite in. Nevertheless, its win — supported by an Outstanding Actress In A Comedy Series gong for lead Jean Smart and a Comedy Writing nod, too — shook things up a little as other key races went according to most predictions.

Among the night's other big winners were Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer, which snagged the Limited/Anthology Series' Actor, Supporting Actress, Writing, and overall Series awards, marking three wins for the show's writer-creator-star Richard Gadd and a richly deserved first Emmy for Martha actor Jessica Gunning. Elsewhere, Jodie Foster was recognised as Outstanding Actress In A Limited/Anthology Series for her tremendous turn in True Detective: Night Country, whilst Elizabeth Debicki's Princess Diana in The Crown earned her the Outstanding Actress In A Drama accolade. Rounding out the acting awards, Billy Crudup and Lamorne Morris won Supporting Actor In A Drama and Limited/Anthology Series for The Morning Show and Fargo respectively, whilst Liza Colón-Zayas' work on The Bear was rewarded with a Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series statuette.

Also in amongst the victors on Sunday evening, Apple TV's still criminally underrated and oft-unsung banger Slow Horses finally won its first Emmy, with scribe Will Smith thoroughly deservingly taking home the prize for Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series for "Negotiations With Tigers". Here's hoping Gary Oldman may yet parp his way to victory for his work as flatulent spook Jackson Lamb with the show's next season, eh? Anyway, for now at least, they're the main movers and shakers at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards, and you can find a full rundown of the winners (and indeed not-winners) below.
