Eddie Redmayne is more normally seen in award-baity dramas or the magic-heavy likes of the Fantastic Beasts films. He's turning his attention to thrillers with a new TV adaptation of genre classic The Day Of The Jackal.

With Top Boy's Ronan Bennett and Game Of Thrones/Luther veteran Brian Kirk directing, the new series will be based on the seminal Frederick Forsyth thriller and subsequent award-winning 1973 film adaptation.

Here's the spiel: "While staying true to the DNA of the original story, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the chameleon like anti-hero at the heart of the story in a high octane, cinematic, globetrotting cat-and-mouse thriller, set amidst the turbulent geo-political landscape of our time."

Redmayne is producing alongside Carnival Films and there's good news for UK viewers – since this marks a co-production between Peacock in the States and Sky, it'll be shown on the streaming service across the pond and via Sky here, so no concerns about it being stuck in the Peacock UK limbo.
