Who would want to step into shoes once filled by David Bowie in one of his most memorable film performances? Turns out, in this case, it's Chiwetel Ejiofor, a man of no small acting ability himself. And to give him credit, he and the team behind the new TV adaptation of The Man Who Fell To Earth are going back to the the source novel, instead of trying to replicate Nicolas Roeg's cult 1976 film. Check out the new, full trailer for the show.

With Alex Kurtzman, John Hlavin and Jenny Lumet as the showrunners adapting Walter Tevis' 1963 tome, this Man finds Ejiofor as an alien named Faraday who arrives on Earth with dire warnings for the planet's future and a hope he can reunite with his family.

Fortunately for him, the first person he meets is scientist and engineer Justin Falls (Naomie Harris), who could potentially change the world for the better if she wasn't also busy as a struggling single mother raising her daughter. There's also Bill Nighy as Thomas Newton, who appears to share Faraday's concern.

Yet because this is the way these things go, there are also nefarious types looking to capture our hero for their own ends - those arrayed against him include Kate Mulgrew, Jimmi Simpson and Rob Delaney.

The show will premiere on Showtime across the pond on 24 April with two episodes, but there's no word yet on when it'll make its way here.
