We're slowly starting to learn more about Russell T. Davies plans for the 60th anniversary specials of Doctor Who, which will see the return of David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. Now we know that Aneurin Barnard will play a mysterious new character, while Jemma Redgrave returns as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, the Chief Scientific Officer and head of UNIT.

Barnard, who has been seen in the likes of Peaky Blinders, The Goldfinch and the recent (and recently cancelled) 1899 is playing someone named Roger ap Gwilliam (which sounds like an anagram to us).

The specials will lead up to the introduction of Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor, with his Time Lord debuting this Christmas. The special episodes, meanwhile, will air in November.
