The brand-new Mi 11 smartphone from Xiaomi is made for movie lovers. So, to celebrate its release, Xiaomi’s innovative in-house short film studio Xiaomi Studios has collaborated with esteemed cinematographer Eric Giovon (Soul to Keep, Trauma is a Time Machine) to create an exciting new short film shot on the Mi 11 Series that is a dedication to the history and the future of the cinema.
We are living in unprecedented times. The way that we once lived has changed completely, and the life of the cinema and of movie lovers has been drastically impacted. From the temporary closures of theatres to the rise of online streaming, the paradigms of cinema are shifting. And herein lies an exciting opportunity.
Xiaomi’s new film shows that smartphone filmmaking is a cutting-edge evolution of the beloved cinematic art – and the possibilities are endless. Shot entirely on the Mi 11 Series, Night & Day is a story of loss, discovery, and the enduring power of movies. Saddened by the closure of his local cinema, we follow the protagonist as he wanders the lonely streets of New York City before arriving at his favourite movie theatre that had been closed and finds it open once again. Here, his love for film is reignited as he enjoys this final night in his beloved cinema. The message of the film is made clear in its tagline: “Movie Magic Never Ends”.
The Mi 11 boasts studio-level cameras including a 108MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide angle camera and a 5MP telemacro camera. It’s also got One-Click AI Cinema functionality, which offers incredible movie effects such as Magic Zoom and Time Freeze. Not only do these help you to shoot like a professional movie director, but allow you to recreate your favourite scenes at home – why not try your own take on Inception? So, no matter what you’re creating, your film can capture all the magic of the movies – a magic that will never end.
