Disney is the biggest entertainment brand in the world. But it's sometimes easy to forget that it built that on the back of some fantastic movies. From fairytales brought to vivid life to musicals that have you tapping your toes and whistling a tune, the classics just kept on coming. Many of us have grown up with them, and have cherished memories, characters we identify with and catchphrases that stick – hakuna matata, anyone?
The world may be a very different place these days, with Disney Plus offering the vast majority of the company's movies, both animated and live-action available to stream straight to your home, but there is still room for those who enjoy collecting the films on disc. After all, what happens if you cancel your Disney Plus subscription, or the 'net goes down?
Here, we present – in no particular order – 15 of the best, our favourites picked from among the many movies available on Blu-ray.

The 15 Best Disney Movies On Blu-Ray
Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Turning the clock right back to the beginning – or to the first full-length feature, at least, Snow White is a timeless classic that was Oscar-nominated for its score and won a special award for its envelope-pushing status a couple of years later.Amazon.co.uk
The Little Mermaid (1989)
Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale comes to vivid life with this musical spectacular that swam away with two Oscars. There's a reason it remains one of the most popular of Disney's animated offerings.Amazon.co.uk
Beauty And The Beast (1991)
More award-winning goodness from the 1990s Golden Age of Disney's animated outings. A love story between a girl and a giant wolf-lion... thing? It's one of the company's best. Amazon.co.uk
Mary Poppins (1964)
So many songs, so many memories for people of a certain age or anyone who might have caught this one on a bank holiday afternoon. Julie Andrews' star power really makes it work.Amazon.co.uk
Mulan
Ahead of the live-action version coming later this year, check out the adventurous, thrilling original, and is packed with songs that won't make the transition. Amazon.co.uk
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Still the best of the Toy Story movies, Lee Unkrich's film often reduces grown-ups (and the odd child) to tears. But around the potential emotional trauma, there's a delightful story and a welcome return for the toy team.Amazon.co.uk
The Jungle Book (1967)
Among the bear necessities of life is this excellent 1960s Rudyard Kipling adaptation. Sheer bliss.Amazon.co.uk
The Incredibles (2004)
Brad Bird marshals the power of Pixar for his spin on superheroes. It's a winner, with a family dynamic to match many a live-action movie. And the Blu-ray set we're recommending combines both the original and Incredibles 2.Amazon.co.uk
Frozen (2013)
AKA The One That Lodged 'Let It Go' in our collective noggins. It's still a fantastic story of sisterhood and magic as metaphor for emotional turmoil. We've sneakily gone for a Blu-ray box that includes both the original and Frozen 2. Amazon.co.uk
Flight Of The Navigator (1986)
Didn't see this 1980s sci-fi curio coming, did you? But despite a lacklustre box office record, the film has long since become a cult favourite on home entertainment venues. And we love it.Amazon.co.uk
Inside Out
Pixar again, this time probing into the inner thoughts of a tweenager. It's the sort of subject that would send many studios running, but in the calm, smart hands of director Pete Doctor, it's a marvel.Amazon.co.uk
Enchanted
Bubbling along thanks to the pure charm of Amy Adams, Enchanted is also a sly nod at the various tropes of fairytale/princess stories. One for the collection.Amazon.co.uk
The Lion King (1994)
Another nugget from Disney's golden run in the '90s. The songs are catchy and the Hamlet-with-lions storyline really works to make this a classic.Amazon.co.uk
Moana (2016)
A more recent gem from the studio's collection, Moana charts a young woman who expands her world and saves her people. Plus music from a team that includes Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda. What's not to love?Amazon.co.uk
Bambi (1942)
The sweet story of a young, adorable deer and his mother who... Wait, WHAT? Regardless, Bambi remains a great Disney entertainment. Amazon.co.uk
