Ultimately, the Pro X LIGHTSPEED needs to answer only one question to justify its existence. Does it adequately deliver the prestige and functionality we’ve come to expect from the standard Pro X, wirelessly? In short, yes.
The quality of aesthetics, build and material have all been carried over from the headset’s previous iteration. It remains comfortable to wear for prolonged periods, despite the increased weight from 320g to 370g. The extra 50g comes along with the battery and wireless tech, which is a small payment considering the quality of both additions. The Li-ion battery boasts up to 20-hours of battery life and is recharged in double-quick time thanks to the USB-C connection. The LIGHTSPEED wireless tech is a real treat. Having seen it in action elsewhere, we've had high hopes for its application in gaming audio. Happily, our hopes haven't been dashed upon the rocks of latency.
The tech effort that sits behind Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED ensures that data is processed efficiently at every stage, from “hardware to firmware”. The result on keyboards and gaming mice is that response and report times drop to around 1ms, via a 2.4GHz connection frequency (the required USB/soundcard dongle is included in the box). When brought over to the Pro X, this means that audio is synced with incredible accuracy. While we've not been able to verify the latency in terms of data, we noticed no discernible change in experience from the original, wired Pro X headset. In our opinion, this is the highest praise such a device can receive.
This speed on connection goes both ways. The onboard mute-mic and volume controls offer immediate communication with the PC system, with no delay between activation and operation. The volume control is a surprise highlight too – rather than controlling only headset volume, it directly links with system volume. This means that both onboard and system control of the volume level are one and the same, negating the tiresome need to balance between two audio levels.
Like all Logitech G peripherals, the Pro X LIGHTSPEED runs through the G-Hub software suite. Here, you are granted access to the nitty-gritty of the headset’s performance, with EQs, mic presets and the parameters of the DTS HEADPHONE
Though the Lightspeed technology has solved the issue of wireless latency, the headset still suffers from a loss in audio quality over its wired brethren. This isn’t to say that they are unpleasant to listen to; the DTS surround sound is still accurate enough to feel like cheating, and the balance between frequency ranges is still impressive. It’s just that between the bass and the mids the clarity isn’t as precise as the standard Pro X.
A similar issue is to be found over on the Blue VO!CE microphone. While by no means is the audio clarity and performance lapse, but that much sought after and respected Blue finesse is reduced to simply being a ‘good’ mic.

Swappable Memory Foam Ear Pads
The earpads are padded with high-quality memory foam, providing a comfortable fit unique to every wearer – an especially welcome feature for glasses wearers. The Pro X comes with two pad options, allowing you to choose between a leatherette or cloth finish. In our experience, while the leatherette looks nicer, the cloth finish was preferable for endurance.
