The Empire Podcast is going back on tour! Yes, folks, because you demanded it, the award-winning podteam are taking the show back on the road this March, for the first time since 2019.
But this time, there's a twist — we’re calling this An Evening With The Empire Podcast, which will tell you that it’s not quite our usual template of simply recording a podcast in front of an audience. You’ll still get your fair share of movie news, film reviews and audience questions, of course, but we’ll be introducing one or two extra elements as well for the live arena, guaranteeing a rip-roaring two hours of film-related fun at every show. And these will not be going out as podcast episodes, either — the only way to experience these shows is to buy tickets!
We'll be bringing the pod to five different cities in March, starting with the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham on March 1 — just three short weeks away! Then we’ll be heading to Partridge Country on March 6, as we head to the Playhouse in Norwich. One week later, on March 13, it’ll be a case of Sheffield Wednesday as we, um, go to Sheffield on a Wednesday at the Memorial Hall. March 21 sees us venture outside the British Isles to return to Dublin, where we’ll be appearing at the Laughter Lounge. And yes, we know that laughter is not guaranteed. Finally, we’ll bring the tour to a hopefully triumphant end at the Quays Theatre in Salford, Manchester, on Thursday March 28. (Apologies to Scotland and Wales — another time, all being well.)
Tickets will go on sale via each of the venues from 10am on Friday 9 Feb, with the exception of Norwich, which will go on sale next week. Tickets for each of the shows will cost £17.50 (plus fees) across the board.
We're not planning to have special guests at these shows — unless otherwise stated and announced beforehand. Instead, we'll be focusing on the regular podcast team — Chris Hewitt and his colleagues of such lethal cunning, Helen O’Hara and James Dyer — at every show, while brining in a different member of the wider Empire team to join them in the revolving fourth chair at each separate date.
If you’ve been to a live Empire show before, we’d love to see you again. If you haven’t, now’s the perfect time to come along for an evening filled with laughter, movie trivia, wild cinematic opinions, and dreadful impressions. We’re hugely excited — this is our biggest tour to date, and our biggest shows to date. As Darth Vader once said, we would be honoured if you would join us. And look what happened to him.
