One has been established for a while; the other two have had more recent breakouts. But Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort and Zendaya will all star in Brian Helgeland's new crime thriller Finest Kind.
The man who adapted LA Confidential (and won an Oscar in the process), and who last wrote and directed Kray twins tale Legend, has come up with an original tale this time, one that will follow two brothers – Gyllenhaal and Elgort – who make a dangerous deal with a crime syndicate that leads them deep into Boston's criminal underground. How Zendaya's character fits in has yet to be revealed, though we're hoping it's more than just the wife or girlfriend of one of the other two, since she deserves something more interesting.
There's no word on when this one will kick off filming, but Gyllenhaal has recently been seen in the Sundance-premiering drama Wildlife and has worked on The Sisters Brothers. Baby Driver's Elgort has Billionaire Boys Club in post-production alongside sci-fi twin drama Jonathan, and has been shooting book adaptation The Goldfinch. Zendaya has a voice role in Bigfoot 'toon Smallfoot.
