It appears that Woody Harrelson had a fine old time being directed by Rob Reiner for upcoming political drama LBJ, because the pair has decided to work together again almost straight away. Harrelson is now attached to star in Reiner's new film, Shock And Awe.
As the title might have clued you in, this one will focus on a group of journalists who dug into the claims made by the Bush administration that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, which were partly used as justification for the invasion of Iraq. Coming on the heels of the Chilcott Report that showed glaring intelligence failures, it'll be a relatively topical one, though of course it still has to enter production and find a distributor first.
Joey Hartstone, who also wrote LBJ, has been on script duty for this one, finally fleshing out an idea that Reiner has had bubbling in development for a few years. LBJ, about the rise of US President Lyndon Baines Johnson to the White House, has yet to set a confirmed release date. Harrelson, on screens now in Now You See Me 2, also has Western drama The Duel coming up and is shooting The Glass Castle.
