If you discovered writer/director/actor Taika Waititi through his work on Thor: Ragnarok, chances are you looked up and have enjoyed previous efforts such as Hunt For The Wilderpeople and vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows. A TV spin-off from the latter has been in the works for a while, and has landed a cast that includes comedy stalwarts Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen.

US network FX has handed out a pilot order to the planned half-hour comedy series, which will take the basic idea of the film and infuse it with new characters, following the misadventures of fang club members who live together and must struggle with the everyday chores of the world, all while trying to also indulge in the un-life of their kind.

Novak will be Nandor, the head of the house, while Toast Of London's Berry is Lazslo, the goofy flatmate. Demetriou takes on the role of Nadja, the badass female who has to put up with them, while Guillen, according to Deadline, will be Nandor's assistant.

And in case you're worried about new people messing up the idea, Waititi is aboard to help launch it as a writer and executive producer, while his cinematic co-director/writer/star Jemaine Clement is a producer and director. Team Empire are big fans of the original Shadows (and the short that spawned it), and given the talent on both sides of the camera, our anticipation levels are now high for the show.
