Amazing Stories (original) title

Though it only lasted a couple of seasons back in the 1980s, the Steven Spielberg-spearheaded anthology Amazing Stories won awards and has long since developed a cult following. Now Apple is targeting a reboot of the series as one of its first big scripted shows.

Spielberg's involvement (beyond Amblin as one of the production companies) in the new version is unknown at the moment, but Hannibal and American Gods writer/producer Bryan Fuller has been attached to work on this for a while, and the reboot was originally set up at US network NBC. But it has since lingered there and is now the focus of interest for the tech giant. Apple is aiming to break into the streaming service sphere currently dominated by the likes of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon (we just picture Amazon desperately trying to secure the rights if they can re-brand the show Amazon Stories).

Fuller is still involved, though his work may be affected by his duties on American Gods.
