When you have Scott Frank and Steven Soderbergh (acting as executive producer) teaming up to create a Western for the small screen, you start to expect something special. No one has seen Godless yet, but the first images are online.
The show, which was picked up by Netflix, has been a passion project of Frank's for years. Now it'll appear as a miniseries on the streaming service.
The story finds notorious criminal Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels) and his gang of outlaws on a mission of revenge against Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell), a son-like protégé who betrayed the brotherhood. While on the run, Roy seeks refuge with hardened widower Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery), an outcast herself, in a worn-down, isolated mining town of La Belle, New Mexico, governed mainly by women. When word reaches La Belle that Griffin is headed their way, the town bands together to defend against the murderous gang in a lawless western frontier.
Sounds good to us. The cast also includes Sam Waterston, Scoot McNairy, Kim Coates and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and the show will hit Netflix on 22 November.
