Director Destin Daniel Cretton is busy getting ready to make his next film, based-on-truth legal drama Just Mercy. He's now adding O'Shea Jackson Jr to the cast.

The movie, which Cretton adapted alongside Andrew Lanham from Bryan Stevenson's memoir, follows Stevenson – to be played on screen by Michael B. Jordan – in his first case, defending a man named Walter McMillan (Jamie Foxx), sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. Stevenson would go on to found the Equal Justice Initiative, fighting for wrongly accused condemned prisoners and death row cases.

Jackson joins a cast that also already includes Brie Larson, with Cretton looking to kick off shooting next month in Atlanta. As for when he'll be back on our screens, Jackson will be seen in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, which stomps in on 31 May next year.
