Having locked Nicole Kidman into place for crime thriller Destroyer, director Karyn Kusama is now building the ensemble around her. And she's zeroing in on two solid choices, with Sebastian Stan and Tatiana Maslany making deals to co-star.
Written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, Destroyer will see Kidman as LAPD detective Erin Bell who, earlier in her career, was placed undercover with a cult-like gang in the California desert. The case ended in tragedy, but when the leader of the gang remerges on to law enforcement's radar years later, she has to work her way through the surviving members to track them down, confronting the demons of her own past. Deadline's report doesn't specify what the new recruits will be playing, but we figure they'll be key roles. Once she finds the rest of the cast, Kusama will be rolling the cameras for a likely 2018 release.
Stan will next be seen in I, Tonya, headed our way on 16 February next year. He'll follow that with a little film called Avengers: Infinity War, which is out on 27 April. Maslany is one of the leads in Stronger, to be released on 8 December.
