She's spent the Resident Evil franchise fighting against the threat of the undead and a nefarious corporation. But for Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, Milla Jovovich is switching sides to evil, signing on to play the titular big bad.
Rise Of The Blood Queen, which has Neil Marshall in the director's chair, will see David Harbour taking over the lead role of Big Red as he and his colleagues (including adoptive father Professor Broom, to be played by Ian McShane), battle the nefarious Blood Queen, a medieval sorceress with plans to destroy the world. Jovovich should offer quite the challenge.
Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola worked on the earlier drafts of the script and now, according to Deadline, Aron Coleite is writing the current version as Marshall prepares to kick off shooting this September in Bulgaria and the UK.
Jovovich, who found time for other movies in between her Resident Evil duties, has worked on Rob Reiner's Shock And Awe and will be seen in James Franco's Future World.
