It was announced in late July that Nicholas Hoult would be playing a young J.R.R. Tolkien (the man who had a slight impact on the literary world) in a new biopic. Lily Collins is joining him in the cast.
Dome Karukoski is on board to direct, working from David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford's script. It'll catch up with Tolkien in his younger days, an orphaned author who finds friendship, love, and artistic inspiration from a group of likeminded friends. But then comes World War I, which threatens to tear them apart. These formative experiences would go on to fuel his work in the fantasy world.
Collins is on to play Edith Bratt, the writer's great love, his inspiration for the elven princess characters in The Lord Of The Rings and the woman who would become his wife. And she's not alone, as Olivier award-winning actor Anthony Boyle is also in the cast, though The Hollywood Reporter's story doesn't specify who he'll play.
Currently to be found in Netflix's To The Bone, Collins has also worked on indie drama Halo Of Stars. As for Boyle, he's in an episode of Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams.
