Clive Standen, usually found wielding swords or arguing on Vikings, will put his battle experience to good use for a new TV series. He's landed the role of a younger Bryan Mills in Luc Besson's telly version of Taken.

West Wing and Game Of Thrones veteran Alex Graves is on board as executive producer and primary director for the new series, which will fiddle with the continuity and set Mills' younger years in the present day.

Exactly what he'll be up to is still not clear; though we do know he won't be married and it's naturally long before the birth of Maggie Grace's Kim. But it intends to dig into the formative years of the character brought to life by Liam Neeson in three movies, potentially exploring his military or Special Forces days. Will something be taken? That's the big question, isn't it?

And lest you get concerned that Standen will have to sit out big chunks of his more regular job to film the show, the plan apparently is for him to complete work on Vikings Season 4 before moving on to Taken. He won't be killed off, so there's every chance he'll be back in the furs for Season 5.
