Jude Law is really notching up the big film roles. With his first gig as a young Albus Dumbledore in what is now known as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald under his belt, he's now nearing a deal to star opposite Brie Larson in Marvel's Captain Marvel.
Larson is playing Carol Danvers, a skilled test pilot whose DNA is melded with that of Kree warrior Mar-Vell. Subsequently, she gains powers such as flight, enhanced strength, damage resistance and the ability to absorb and re-channel energy.
Though his casting hasn't officially been confirmed by Marvel after Variety's story, Law will be playing Doctor Walter Lawson, AKA Mar-Vell, who ends up becoming Danvers' mentor as she figures out her abilities.
Samuel L. Jackson will show up as a two-eyed Nick Fury (the film is set in the 1990s, before he lost one) and Ben Mendelsohn has now signed on to play a villain for directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Captain Marvel is aiming for an 8 March, 2019 release. As for Law, he's worked on Woody Allen's next film and is preparing to film a role in spy thriller The Rhythm Section. And as mentioned above, the Fantastic Beasts sequel arrives on 16 November next year.
