Given that he's already worked with them twice before, and played a Russian mobster no less, it makes sense that Billions show-runners David Levien and Brian Koppelman would turn to a familiar face when casting a Russian billionaire. That recognisable (and famous) fizzog belongs to John Malkovich.
He's jumping aboard the financial drama to play billionaire Grigor Andolov, who will play a key part in the machinations between Chuck Roades (Paul Giamatti) and Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Damian Lewis). Both men – one working for the government, the other trying to rebuild his financial empire – are still trying to destroy each other, no matter the cost to their friends, families and employees.
“John appeared in our first two films, Rounders and Knockaround Guys, and we have a long creative history together. We are ecstatic to be reunited with the man who played Teddy KGB once again," Koppelman and Levien said in a statement picked up by Variety.
And for a taste of what the characters will be saying next season, a teaser for the show is online. It's back on 25 March in the States, and should return to Sky Atlantic in the UK soon after that.
