Comic-Con 2017: Pacific Rim Uprising Video Wants You To Pilot A Jaeger

Pacific Rim: Uprising

What is a Jaeger? It's a question that you'd think was answered quite comprehensively in 2013's Pacific Rim, but the first look at sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising's recruitment video asks it again.

Though its footprint at this year's San Diego Comic-Con was relatively small (despite the giant creations at the heart of the story), the film did launch the video, encouraging us to sign up to pilot the huge robo-vehicles to defend the world against the lurking threat of Kaiju.

Advertising the movie's first tie-in site (Go Jaeger), the new video features John Boyega's Jake Pentecost and lots of the new vehicles to make their debut in the film. Sporting typically powerful-sounding names, they include Gipsy Avenger, Bracer Phoenix, Titan Redeemer and Justin. Okay, not the last one.

As for the story the movie, it takes place 10 years since the battle of the Breach from the original. The oceans are still, yet restless. And vindicated by the previous victory, humanity has turned the Jaeger programme into a top-notch global defence force. And you just know the Kaiju will be back...

Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny and Charlie Day are in the cast, with Steve Knight in the director's cockpit. The movie stomps in on 2 March next year.
