With the news a couple of weeks ago that the main X-men franchise would be bringing back the main First Class team (Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult) plus some of the younger mutants introduced in Apocalypse, for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, there's now word that another mutant, one only hinted at in a deleted scene from the latter movie, will debut. According to Entertainment Weekly, Dazzler is going to be in Dark Phoenix.
Don't expect the character to dominate what is fully expected to be Jean Grey's (Sophie Turner) story, as she embraces (or is brought down by) the Phoenix Force that is behind her abilities, as the role is expected to be a small one. And while it appeared, at least via an Instagram image from Turner of the scene, that it's Taylor Swift standing in for the character on the album cover, the pop singer is not expected to play the part, which is out to casting agents.
Turner is naturally back, alongside Tye Sheridan (Scott Summer/Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler) and Alexandra Shipp (Ororo Munroe/Storm) for a film written and to be directed by Simon Kinberg, due to kick off shooting this summer.
