With all of his work on Logan – even the black and white conversion job – complete, James Mangold can turn his attention to a potential new film. And he's grabbed hold of a Taylor Sheridan-scripted remake of French drama Disorder.

The original, which starred Matthias Schoenaerts and was directed by Alice Winocour, followed a former soldier suffering with PTSD who is hired to protect the family of a rich Lebanese businessman while he's working overseas. But while everyone else thinks the family is fine, the soldier sees a threat aimed at the wife (played by Diane Kruger).

According to Deadline, Sicario writer Sheridan hadn't been looking to script a remake, but saw the potential to put his own stamp on the story, switching up some of the element, including changing what the soldier is suffering from, switching the location to Majorca and working up a romance. After Sony bought the rights to the original and sought him out to do the job, the studio is clearly pleased with his work and is hoping to get this one underway before the year is out. Mangold will be a big part of that, and will supervise Sheridan's latest pass on the script.

Mangold has a few projects in development, including an adaptation of Don Winslow's The Force. Sheridan, meanwhile, has been winning praise for his directorial debut, Wind River, due here on 8 September.
