Nightcrawler writer/director Dan Gilroy has already gathered the stars of that film – Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo – for a new, untitled horror thriller. And, as production kicks off, he's also revealed the ensemble he has built around them, with Toni Collette, Zawe Ashton, Daveed Diggs, Natalia Dyer, Tom Sturridge and John Malkovich all in the cast.
While the title has yet to be confirmed, Variety has at least dug up some details about the plot, which will follow big-money artists and the collectors who pay a high price when art and commerce collide. No word on what the new arrivals will be playing, nor have the main duo's roles been announced, but Gilroy has the cameras rolling now in Los Angeles, with Netflix aiming to release the finished product this year.
Collette recently saw success at Sundance with Hereditary, while Ashton comes fresh from the likes of Guerrilla and Nocturnal Animals, which also starred Gyllenhaal. She'll crop up in The Widow. Diggs is the Hamilton veteran who has been appearing in movies and TV since his stage role, most notably in Wonder.
Dyer has played Nancy on Stranger Things for the last two seasons and should be back for a third, while Sturridge has worked on films such as Journey's End and the upcoming Mary Shelley. Malkovich, meanwhile, will be seen in Bird Box and Mile 22, among others.
