With the cameras now rolling and giant green screen stages constructed to cater for massive scenes of alien invasion (note: probably not), the cast for the Downton Abbey movie is growing. Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips and Stephen Campbell Moore will be the new recruits.
Many of the show's original cast, including Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, and Hugh Bonneville are all present and correct, but the story remains a mystery, beyond chronicling more of the Crawley family's fortunes in slightly bigger scale than before.
Series creator Julian Fellowes wrote the script and is one of the producers, with a director switch announced – pilot director Brian Percival is now no longer in that job (though he remains an executive producer), while Michael Engler, another veteran of the show, is calling the shots.
The film still without an official title (may we suggest Downton Abbey – Fallout?), should be on screens next year.
