With Adam Sandler dipping back into dramatic work for Good Time directing duo the Safdie Brothers, the cast for crime thriller Uncut Gems is coming together. Idina Menzel is the latest recruit.
Josh and Ben Safdie wrote the script with regular collaborator Ronald Bronstein, and the story will follow Sandler's New York-based jewelry store owner whose gambling addiction and mounting debts are starting to derail his life. Add to that the fact that he's juggling two relationships, and it certainly sounds like he won't be having a good time of it (pun entirely intended there).
Menzel is on to play his wife, joining a cast that also includes Eric Bogosian, Lakeith Stanfield and Judd Hirsch. Netflix has nabbed the rights to carry the film internationally, while A24 will handle it in the US.
Next up for Menzel is a return to one of her most popular roles, reprising Elsa in Frozen 2, due out 29 November 2019. Before that, though, she's cameoing as the character in Ralph Breaks The Internet, headed our way on 30 November this year.
