We're not entirely sure the world was crying out for a second sequel to Olympus Has Fallen after follow-up London, but the box office has spoken and Angel Has Fallen is speeding towards us. And now we know who will likely direct it: Ric Roman Waugh.

The man who made 2008's Felon is hashing out a deal to tackle the new movie, which will once again find Gerard Butler's Secret Service Agent Mike Banning cursing his luck when the President (there's no official information yet, but it likely won't be Aaron Eckhart's Benjamin Asher) is under threat from terrorist types, this time aboard Air Force One. We're hoping someone will growl, "get off my plane!" in tribute to the 1997 action thriller, but who knows?

Morgan Freeman is reportedly returning as Vice President Trumbull (oooh – what if he's now the Prez? Freeman has a history of fictional White House residents), and the script comes from franchise regulars Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt. Waugh, meanwhile (surely a man whose name destined him to direct action films... or a WWE wrestler), has Shot Caller due out this year.
