Doug Liman is rolling the cameras now on the adaptation of Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking, with Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in the leads. He's adding the considerable talents of David Oyelowo to the cast.

The film, which has seen script contributions from such writers as Charlie Kaufman, John Lee Hancock and Ness himself, adapts the first book in Ness’ trilogy – The Knife Of Never Letting Go – which finds humankind in a dark future, colonising a distant planet after the Earth has been ruined. When an infection called the Noise strikes, all thoughts become audible and chaos follows.

A corrupt autocrat takes the chance to seize control of the human settlements in order to launch a strike on native alien race the Spackles, blaming them for the infection that's apparently killing human women. Young Todd Hewitt (Holland), the only boy in a town solely composed of men, rebels to stop the oncoming destruction. Going on the run with his dog, he teams up with a mysterious girl (Ridley), who is the source of a precious patch of silence.

Oyelowo will be Aaron, a controversial militant figure in the New World and a man who will, alongside Mayor Prentiss (Mads Mikkelsen), cause trouble for our heroes. He joins a cast that also includes Nick Jonas and Kurt Sutter, and the movie is targeting a 1 March, 2019 release date.
