Outlaw King

The comparisons with films such as Braveheart will fly like arrows at the film, but director David Mackenzie and his Hell Or High Water star Chris Pine are more focused on Outlaw King, the actual movie they've made. The first trailer for the drama is now online.

Mackenzie's latest follows the untold, true story of Robert The Bruce (Pine), who transformed from defeated nobleman, to reluctant King, to outlaw hero over the course of an extraordinary year. Forced into battle in order to save his family, his people and his country from the oppressive English occupation of medieval Scotland, Robert seizes the Scottish crown and rallies a ragtag group of men to face off against the wrath of the world's strongest army lead by the ferocious King Edward I (Stephen Dillane) and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales (Billy Howie).

We're promised plenty of historical accent, and Pine taking his best stab at a Scottish accent. The likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Pugh and Tony Curran show up in the cast, and Netflix plans to launch the film at the Toronto International Film Festival next month followed by a limited cinema release to coincide with its debut on the streaming service for 9 November.
