Having recently declared that his attempt to make a new Alien film set in the Ellen Ripley era is all but dead, director Neill Blomkamp has instead been busying himself with his Oats Studios output. But he's also lined up new movie, and has Chris Evans attached as the lead for disaster thriller Greenland.

One of the hotter properties with rights available at the Cannes Film Market, the film's story is described as a family trying to survive in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. Who wants to bet that climate change had something to do with it? Either that or Roland Emmerich has started to affect the real world. With STX International handling the film in the UK, Blomkamp is looking to kick off shooting later this year.

Evans is one of the stars of a slightly successful movie that is out now (it rhymes with "Revengers: Sinfinity Saw") and has The Red Sea Diving Resort as the next film to reach cinemas (though it is currently without a UK date). There's also the still-untitled Avengers follow-up due on 26 April next year.
