Last month, the news broke that Brian De Palma had put together his new thriller, a tale of mystery and murder called Domino that was to star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Christina Hendricks. Things have shifted slightly, but the movie is kicking off shooting with Carice van Houten taking over Hendricks' role.
Domino comes via a script by Kon-Tiki writer Petter Skavlan. Coster-Waldau will be a Copenhagen-based police officer looking to get justice after his partner is murdered by a mysterious criminal named Imran. He teams up with another cop (van Houten) and his late colleague's mistress to hunt Imran down, but the case develops in to a cat and mouse chase that involves a dangerous CIA agent and stretches from Scandinavia to Spain. With Eriq Ebouaney also in the cast, De Palma will be rolling the cameras in Belgium, Spain, Denmark and The Netherlands.
And yes, this means a team-up between two people more used to wandering the chilly vistas or sunny streets of Game Of Thrones, which the actress is only to happy to lean into.
"I am delighted to join the cast of Domino; it’s a privilege to be working with such an iconic director, van Houten says in a statement carried by Deadline. "And who knew that Jamie Lannister and Melisandre would meet outside Westeros?"
Game Of Thrones is back on TV on 16 July. Domino – assuming it keeps that name – should be out next year.
