Angelina Jolie has just started shooting Maleficent II, so you would imagine she's had her fill of fantasy tales for now. Not so! She'll star alongside David Oyelowo in new adventure Come Away.
Brenda Chapman, who was the original director of Pixar's Brave (and won an Oscar for her efforts), is making her live-action debut with the movie. Marissa Kate Goodhill's script is designed as a prequel to both Alice In Wonderland and Peter Pan, which re-imagines them in the years before their own stories as brother and sister. When their older brother dies in a tragic accident, they aim to save their parents (Jolie and Oyelowo) from their downward spirals into despair.
“Angelina and David are going to bring a beautiful chemistry and depth to this magical story, giving audiences a wonderful step outside the expected,” Chapman says in a statement picked up by Deadline.
The aim is to have the film kick off shooting in the UK before Jolie joins later in Los Angeles. Which is odd, since the Maleficent sequel is shooting at Pinewood already. There's no sign of a release date for Come Away yet.
