As Star Wars: The Last Jedi speeds towards us (less than two months to go, folks), the cast is, as ever, somewhat limited in what they can share about the film. Laura Dern headed to Ellen Degeneres' talk show and, while she didn't let slip anything truly new, she did share a new image of her character, Resistance officer Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. The image has also popped up on Dern's Instagram feed.

Little is known about Holdo, beyond the fact that she will get her piece of the action, and that she has a taste for bright hairstyles. Dern recounted on Ellen how she got a little overenthusiastic while working with weapons, and how much she enjoyed working with the late Carrie Fisher.

Holdo will be a part of the tapestry of the new film, which finds the First Order striking back against the Resistance, Daisy Ridley's Rey training with – and learning about the more recent past of – Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, while John Boyega's Finn and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron figure out their own next moves.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be out on 15 December.
