Ultimate X

Less a film than a thrill ride, Ultimate X follows the participants in the American extreme sports event, The X-Games.

The crystal-clear images and seat-shaking sound of the Imax experience strap you onto the handlebars of a stunt motorcycle and show you the action first-hand. A series of interview clips breaks up the events, showing the competing skateboarders and cyclists as easy-going but highly talented athletes whose main motivations are having fun and the possibility of an impressive scar.

But it’s the actual competition footage that provides the thrills, inducing gasps of awe and winces of pain in equal measure. Witness legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, performing a 900Þ flip, or one unlucky motorcyclist losing his bike mid-stunt. The competitors are clearly unhinged, but they put on a hell of a show.
